Favourite food while shooting?
Energy food, salads and pulses. Bread is a disaster.
Where do you go for great Coffee?
I don’t drink coffee but love to go to La Fromagerie in Marylebone for Violet Tea. Or, when travelling I carry my own Genmaicha.
What is your best restaurant memory?
Chez Omar in Paris. I’ve been going there since I was an assistant in the early 90’s. I’ve had Birthday dinners there and meals with great teams and loved ones over the years. The food is incredibly consistent and easy. It’s just comforting.
Favourite cuisine type? Any special diet preferences?
Japanese food is my soul food. London, Paris, New York and especially Los Angeles have so many great Japanese. Rural, rustic Japanese cooking is my firm favourite. Shabu Shabu, vegetable root stews. I don’t eat dairy.
Do you often go to the same restaurants, or do you like to discover?
I’m a bit of a creature of habit. After work it’s nice to go to a familiar spot where the staff know you and you can be relaxed and calm. I don’t like restaurants that change the menu all the time as when I think of a Restaurant I know exactly what I want to enjoy there. Exploring new places is always best with an insider.
